The Metropolitan Opera’s first post-shutdown production will offer a free screening of “Fire Shut Up In My Bones” (with The Lion King alum Walter Russell III) in Times Square and Marcus Garvey Park on September 27th! The pre-show begins at 6pm and the opera begins at 6:30pm. Read below for the ticket and COVID-19 safety policies per location:

At Marcus Garvey Park
For the first time, audiences can watch a live broadcast of Opening Night from Marcus Garvey Park’s Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Harlem, in partnership with NYC Parks and SummerStage and supported by The Ford Foundation, free of charge. The open-air amphitheater opens to the public at 4:30PM, and seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no tickets required. The pre-show broadcast commences at 6PM, and the opera will begin at 6:30PM. Please note, to enter the amphitheater, attendees will be required to show either proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 PCR test administered within 72 hours prior to entry, as well as government-issued photo ID. Unvaccinated children under the age of 12 may accompany their parent or guardian who provides proof of full vaccination or negative Covid-19 test. In Times Square
Continuing a Met tradition, the Opening Night performance will be transmitted live and for free on giant screens in Times Square. The pre-show broadcast commences at 6PM, and the opera will begin at 6:30PM. Seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no tickets required, on Duffy Square and the Broadway Plaza between 46th and 47th Streets, with additional standing room available. Face coverings are recommended for anyone who wishes to attend, but are not required. Proof of vaccination or testing is not required for Times Square.
