DEAR EVAN HANSEN Equity Principal Auditions October 26, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm « “A Bread Factory, Part Two” Limited Release DEAR EVAN HANSEN Equity Principal Auditions » GET MORE INFO Evan Hansen (17): Pop Tenor G2-B4 Smart, sincere, and cripplingly self-conscious, Evan prefers to hover in the background, a supporting player in his own life, too afraid to step forward into the spotlight and risk ridicule or, what might be worse, no one noticing him at all. Zoe Murphy: (17) Pop Soprano F3-E5 (belt) A sensitive, sophisticated high school junior. Cool without realizing it, Zoe could care less about the status games and popularity rites of high school. Funny and bright, she has grown up in the long shadow cast by her volatile older brother, Connor, tyrannized along with the rest of her family by his out-of-control behavior. Few rooms are as familiar to her as the inside of a family therapist’s office. Zoe compensates for her brother’s darkness by striving to be warm, nice to everyone, the kind of person who goes out of her way to learn the names of the kids who sit by themselves at lunch. She feels a terrible ambivalence over her brother’s death, finding it difficult to forgive him for all he did, and at the same time forgive that part of herself that feels nothing but relief in the fact that he’s gone. Alana Beck: (17) Pop Soprano F3-E5 (belt) Often prone to melodrama, high school senior Alana has few friends but lacks the self-awareness to understand why. Beneath her extroverted demeanor, Alana is in fact haunted by a terrible and abiding loneliness. Tired of always being an outsider, Alana seizes the death of a classmate as an opportunity finally to find a sense of belonging. Connor Murphy (17): Pop Bari/Tenor G2-G4 An angry, disaffected loner, Connor has been a troubled kid for as long as anyone can remember, an enigma and a source of endless consternation to his long-suffering parents. Jared Kleinman (17): Pop Tenor A2-B4 Droll and sarcastic, Jared is forced by his parents to hang out with family friend Evan, for whom he claims to have nothing but disdain. Jared covers his obvious insecurities with a well-practiced braggadocio and a know-it-all arrogance. Please prepare a brief pop/rock or contemporary musical theatre song. Bring a picture/resume stapled together. An accompanist will be provided.
