Young Broadway’s FAQ

We are the first news source for kids working on Broadway & Off-Broadway. Since 2010, we strive to bring the latest news regarding these young, talented individuals. Think like BroadwayWorld Jr. To learn more about our staff, see About the Team.
This can get confusing, but bear with us! We cover shows operating under Broadway and Off-Broadway contracts as well as live T.V. musicals such as Hairspray Live, Peter Pan Live, and Sound of Music Live. Broadway counts as theaters with at least 500 seats where all actors are paid and abide by Actors' Equity Association's Broadway contracts. Off-Broadway is similar to Broadway but Off-Broadway theaters house 100-499 seats. These productions must abide by AEA rules. However, we do allow a few exceptions in terms of different venues and unions (for example: Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Encores! at New York City Center, etc.). We have the final say on what we will and will not cover. We do not cover shows that play Off-Broadway houses but are produced as part of an educational program. We also do not cover Off-Off-Broadway, regional, community, or youth productions either in NYC or anywhere else in the country. These rules are not to exclude productions but to protect our very small staff of four people. If a production is mentioned in some capacity on our social media or in our regional database that falls under the Off-Off-Broadway, regional, community, or youth theatre categories, it is because there's an actor who has performed on Broadway or Off-Broadway as a child included in the cast. Click HERE for a list of all the shows we've covered in the past and click HERE for a list of acceptable Off-Broadway venues.

Please email us with a headshot, bio, and any social media links as well as a website or social media page for the show in question! We totally get you! We take care of the safety and privacy of these young actors, which is why we do not post images or videos from the private social media accounts unless explicitly given consent from their parent and/or guardian. We also only advertise special event info (i.e. cabarets, youth theatre productions, etc.) which have been published for the public to view. If you are a parent or child and want a certain post of yours removed and/or would like us to refrain from posting about your child, please contact us via hello@youngbway.org or use our contact form or send it via private message to our Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. Please note that we are not responsible for content/media/news we share. In addition, we monitor our comments and block/report individuals who behave inappropriately online or leave negative words towards the performance of a child or a production. Parents, if you are suspicious of an individual, please contact us via the methods above. Note that our business hours are 9am-6pm PST Monday-Friday (holidays are non-exempt). We will not respond to non-urgent messages outside of those hours. Please wait up to 24 hours for a response.
We stand with the unions (both SAG-AFTRA and WGA) and firmly believe that what they are asking for is valid and necessary for the future of the industry. As a media publication, we are not held to the same standards of social media promotions as current and future SAG-AFTRA members as well as influencers. We will continue to operate as normal, but we will refrain from tagging individuals on our social media accounts to avoid false association that would result in the loss of union membership. Please note that any promotional work seen on our publications are organic and we were not requested by SAG-AFTRA or non-SAG-AFTRA actors to promote on their behalf. For more information, please visit the SAG-AFTRA Strike Rules, the SAG-AFTRA Strike FAQ, and Variety's strike FAQ.
