Gaten Matarazzo to leave LES MIS, Tony Awards Set Nomination Date, and more!

Gaten MatarazzoIt was announced today that Gaten Matarazzo will play his final performance of Les Miserables on March 1st. His final performance schedule is on his FB fan page. Please see him while you can!

The Tony Awards have set their nomination announcement date! Tune in at 8:30am EST at TonyAwards.com on April 28th.

Olivia Lombardi (A Little Princess) is set to take part in Broadway’s Epic Fail, a concert only described as “an evening of songs from movies that should never become musicals as written by the best in the business.” The concert will be held on September 7th at 6pm and the 8th at 9:30pm at Sophie’s NYC. Sophie Knapp6 year old Sophie Knapp (A Little Princess) will make her Broadway debut in Once! Don’t know who she is replacing and when she starts but we are very excited for her!

Paige Brady (Matilda) took her last bow as “Matilda” this past Saturday. We wish you all the best, Paige! Fina Strazza officially made her debut yesterday. Congratulations and welcome!

Lyrics for Life, the Kids of the Arts-produced fundraiser for World Suicide Prevention Day, will be hosted by Cameron Ocasio! Ocasio made his Broadway debut in 2010 in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and plays Dice on Nickelodeon’s “Sam and Cat”. The event will also feature Sophie Knapp, who will make her Broadway debut soon in Once. Ticket information can be found at SymphonySpace.org.

Fun Home on Broadway, Emma Howard’s Day in the Life, Variety Youth Impact Report, and more!

Exciting news! Fun Home will come to Broadway in April 2015! The production will play the Circle in the Square Theater beginning April 4, 2015 with previews. Then the production opens on April 22nd. No word on casting yet.

Above you’ll find the These Kids Have Talent video of the Day in the Life of Emma Howard (Violet, Matilda)! The video also features Frenie Acoba (Matilda), Ava DeMary (Matilda), and Emerson Steele (Violet). Please go check it out if you haven’t already and subscribe to These Kids Have Talent, where they highlight many other kids like Emma.

Lilla Crawford (Annie), Bryce Clyde Jenkins (A Raisin in the Sun), Holly Taylor (Billy Elliot) and Oona Laurence (Matilda) all made Variety’s Youth Impact Report for 2014! The list includes kids making a name for themselves in film, TV, theatre, YouTube, and more as well as the adults making an impact on youth through media. The cast of Once celebrate their 1,000th performance August 13th. They will be joined by Once composer Glen Hansard during curtain call. Be sure to go if you can!

A second concert for “Stop the Presses”, featuring the cast of Newsies, has added a second show! There will now be two concerts at 7pm and 11:30pm at 54 Below on August 14th (a week from today). Eden Duncan-Smith (The Lion King, Fences) has booked a major role in a feature film! She will co-star in “Meadowland”, coming to theaters in 2015, with Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson. She will soon be seen in Annie in December. Congratulations, Eden!

Peyton Ella, Alexis Paige, Lilli Jacobs, Jordan O’Brien, and Jamieson O’Brien (all from A Little Princess) will perform in the next “A Time to Shine” cabaret in NYC at Stage 72!
