This means that Beetlejuice has officially played its final performance at the Winter Garden Theatre. Producers are still considering a move to another theater, but final decisions won’t be made until Broadway reopens. Continuing our walk down memory lane, 2014 at Young Broadway Actor News saw productions of Violet and Les Miserables, as well as plays like Act One and Mothers and Sons!

In 2015, we had a jam-packed year, including welcoming Fun Home, School of Rock, Finding Neverland, and the recent revival of The King and I to Broadway!

In 2016, new shows like Waitress, Tuck Everlasting, and A Bronx Tale debuted, and Falsettos returned to Broadway!

Kids from Evita and A Little Night Music are headed to TV – again! Katherine McNamara (A Little Night Music) has been cast as a lead in “Shadowhunters”, a new show premiering on ABC Family. No premiere date has been announced. Isabela Moner‘s (Evita) new show “100 Things to Do Before High School” now has a premiere date! The show will premiere on June 6th at 8:30pm on Nick! Be sure to tune in to both. Congratulations, girls!

THE KING AND I Extends, THE NETHER and PUNK ROCK Honored, and more!


The King and I has not only extended its run but also has a national tour in the works! The Broadway run is now open ended. For more news on the national tour, go visit our sister site Kids on Tour!

The Nether and Punk Rock were nominated for Best Play in the Off-Broadway Alliance Awards! You can view the full list of nominees over at Congratulations to all the nominees!

Liberty will celebrate their cast album on June 14th at 54 Below! Doors open at 8:45pm with the show starting at 9:30pm. Star Abigail Shapiro will be in appearance!

“Super Wings” Premieres, MATILDA Kids Sing “Frozen”, and more!

Super Wings

“Super Wings” premiered on Sprout today! Congratulations to Luca Padovan (Newsies), Colin Critchley (New York Spring Spectacular), and Victoria Dennis (Little Miss Sunshine)!

The kids of Matilda sang with Idina Menzel as part of the new song from “Frozen Fever” called “Making Today A Perfect Day”. You can listen to it below!

The King and I will get a cast album that will drop this summer! The release date is TBA.

Sam Poon (The King and I) and Samantha Cutler (Billy Elliot national tour) will star in their new cabaret “Songs of Our Youth”, comprised of songs from their childhood and teen years. Guests will include kids from Billy Elliot, Motown, and more. The cabaret will take place on Apr. 27th at 7pm at Don’t Tell Mama. More info can be found at

The cast of New York Spring Spectacular will perform on GMA on March 20th! Not sure if the kids will appear, but we’ll keep you posted!

They are Noah Baird (A Christmas Story tour), Beada Briglia (A Christmas Story tour), Cole Alex Edelstein, Grace Matwijec (Mother Jones, White Christmas tour), Jack Mullen (Beauty and the Beast tour), GiaNina Paolantonio, and David Rosenthal! Congratulations, everyone! Special wishes to them on their Matilda debuts and special wishes to Eleanor Koski, Athan Sporek, Sam Chuck, and Fabi Aguirre who debut in Les Miserables this week!
